Mt.Kurikoma, in the center of Kurikoma Quasi-National Park, is an active volcano that stretches over three prefectures, Akita, Iwate, and Miyagi. With a volcanic lake, Canyon, and Beech forest and abundant in various landscapes, alpine plants such as Gentiana Nipponica can be seen. Also has a majestic view of the beautiful autumn leaves from the mountaintop.
Note that entering the areas around Lake Showa is currently prohibited (when entrance will become available is undetermined). Please confirm details on the Official Akita Prefecture website.
