The nearly 100 year old wooden building that is Kowakubi-Onsen Syohoen has been recognized as a Registered Cultural Property.
On the grounds is a group of fir trees that are around 400 years old which were named a natural monument of Daisen City.
Each bath at this lodge is continuously filled with natural hot spring water straight from the ground. The popular Japanese cypress outdoor bath is reserved only for lodge guests. The river crab dish, made with fresh river crab caught in the Omono River which flows behind the lodge, is a popular meal.
