During the Edo Period, Yuri-Honjo prospered as a port city for north-bound ships from central Japan. It was a place where people of many walks of life came into contact with each other. Many of the valuable hina dolls once housed by warriors and merchants of this era can still be seen. Visitors are welcome to see these hina dolls displayed at museums, galleries and homes. There are approximately 50 places to see hina dolls in Yuri-Honjo, and over 1000 dolls for visitors to become acquainted with.
