KUMA KUMA BEAR ZOO (Ani Bear Zoo)
くまくま園(阿仁くま園)
In Ani, Akita, there have been historical bear hunters called “Matagi”, and interestingly, there is a bear zoo called “KUMA KUMA BEAR ZOO" in this area. You can meet about 60 bears here - Asiatic black bears and Brown bears. You'll see bears clapping their hands that sign “feed me”, or bears swimming and playing around. Cubs can be seen at a couple of particular times a day, and you can even touch them in May. Bear foods are available at stores on site, and feeding bears will surely be a fun experience. Of course, don't worry for safety is insured. In Asiatic black bears section, you'll look down them from the high wall. In Brown bear section, you'll see them over the thick glass.
