Wanoi Kakunodate
This is a hotel made from remodeled historic warehouses interspersed throughout Kakunodate, which is a town famous for its samurai residences. 3 warehouse buildings are used as guest rooms. Only 1 group is able to stay in a building at 1 time. With the building's history as the backdrop, you can feel the lifestyle of that era within a private space. You are able to enjoy a feeling of time traveling into the lifestyle landscape of that era by taking a single step inside.
The 3 warehouse buildings you can stay in are the Bushi Warehouse, the Gakko Warehouse, and the Tanmono Warehouse.
In the Bushi Warehouse, you can feel the culture, lifestyle, and so on of samurai warriors. There are actual samurai tools that you can touch placed in the building. In addition, you can experience Kakunodate's traditional craft, cherry bark craft.
The Gakko Warehouse is in a building that was used for the storage of pickled foods. Things such as tools related to pickled foods are used in the design, items, and so on for the inside of the guest room. There is also a bathtub modeled after a pickled foods barrel. In the spring, you can enjoy the sight of weeping sakura trees from the bathing room.
The Tanmono Warehouse is in a building that was used as a kimono textiles shop. With kimono textiles decorating the interior of the guest room, the placement of a kotatsu style sunken hearth, and so on, it is possible to feel the culture of that era.
Check in takes place at Hotel Folkloro Kakunodate. Since each warehouse building is within walking distance, you can visit them while enjoying a leisurely stroll through Kakunodate Town.
