One of the largest deformed beech trees in Japan, estimated to be over 300 years old. With a trunk circumference of 7.62 meters and a height of about 25 meters, this gigantic tree gives off the presence of a great king (Daio). It is said that the Chokai Recreational Forest where this tree lives had been repeatedly logged from above the snow for making charcoals in the winter, and after the cut ends healed, they became bumpy, resulting in the deformity. The forest of deformed beech trees is a mysterious sight. The forest is about 45 minutes on foot from the parking lot.
