The Gono Line is a local train line that is 147.2 kilometers long. It connects Higashi-Noshiro Station in Akita Prefecture with Kawabe Station in Aomori Prefecture. It is known in Japan as a local train line that everyone wants to try riding at least once.
Along the train line, there are many locations such as the Sea of Japan, the natural world heritage site of Shirakami-Sanchi, and other incredible views which are the pride of Tohoku. You can enjoy them all to your heart's content from the train window!

The tourism train, Resort Shirakami, departs from and arrives at Akita Station, and runs along the Gono Line. It slows down in speed at spots of beautiful scenery. From the running train that seems to be approaching the water's edge, you can fully enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Sea of Japan.
Inside the train, specialty products are being sold, such as locally brewed sake, coffee brewed using Shirakami-Sanchi water, and sweets. Furthermore, reservation sales for bento boxes, sweets, and more from stores along the train route are also being made. They are perfect accompaniments to a journey by train.
