"Chawan-ya" is a local cuisine restaurant opened in 1977. It locates at the busiest shopping area in Akita where many other restaurants are located. The standard menu is Akita's specialty, Kiritanpo Nabe. "Kiritanpo" is a dish of crushed rice, wrapped around a stick, baked, and simmered together with vegetables in a chicken soup. More than 30 kinds of sake are also available.
