Nakajimadai Forest of Recreation Shishigahana Marsh
中島台・獅子ヶ鼻湿原
Shishigahana wetland, foot of Mt. Chokai, is deep rich forest of many kinds of natural trees.
Interesting point in this forest is malformation beech trees! You'll be surprised by the biggest malformation beech tree named “Agariko-daio”(means rising bud king). He is like a king of this forest- huge, splendid and very strange form.
You can see Chokai Marimo(spherical moss- natural monument!) near the wood, also.
When you walk around this forest, you'll feel like you are in an art sculpture or something.
Mototaki waterfall near the Shishigahana wetland is also recommended to visit. It's so fantastic view that water flow on the moss slopes.
