The Hachimantai area has prospered as a hot spring resort since long ago.
In addition to the national park, it houses a great number of hot springs, and visitors can enjoy rich spring water from volcanic sources.
Marshes and wetlands are also scattered about Hachimantai, and visitors can experience a variety of vegetation as they walk across the promenade built over a large marsh.
